The BookMarks and Marion Public Library are excited to present our Speaking Volumes fundraiser event featuring bestselling author Ariel Lawhon. Join us on Friday, October 23, to hear Lawhon talk about her many books and years of writing. 

Ariel Lawhon is a critically acclaimed author of historical fiction, known for bringing extraordinary women and overlooked stories to life. Her bestselling novels include: The Frozen River, Code Name Helene, I Was Anastasia, Flight of Dreams, and The Wife, the Maid, and the Mistress. She is also a co-author of When We Had Wings and the author of the Amazon Original short story Barriers to Entry. Her work has been translated into numerous languages and has been featured as selections for Good Morning America Book Club, LibraryReads, Indie Next, Costco, Amazon Spotlight, and Book of the Month Club. Lawhon's engaging storytelling and deep historical research have earned her a devoted readership across the country. 

Speaking Volumes is a signature fundraising event for The BookMarks, with all proceeds supporting the programs, services, and initiatives of the Marion Public Library. This annual event brings nationally recognized authors to Marion, while strengthening literacy and lifelong learning in the community. 

Attendees can expect an evening of engaging conversation, insight into Lawhon's writing process, and opportunities to connect through a shared love of reading and storytelling. A book signing will also be included as part of the event experience.

Ticket sales start June 1, 2026.

Tickets can be purchased online, in the Marion Public Library at the Main Desk, or inside the BookMarket during open hours. 

Enjoy the Library's space with desserts, beverages, and a cash bar.
 

6:00 pm: Social Hour ($75 ticket; doors open at 5:45 pm)
Mingle with the author before the main presentation while you enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres. A limited number of tickets available for $75 per person (includes General Program + Book Signing). 

7:00 pm: General Program ($30 ticket; doors open at 6:45 pm)
Tickets for the main speaking presentation are $30 per person (includes Book Signing). 

8:00 pm: Book Signing (must purchase ticket at either level)
Books can be purchased at the event.

All proceeds go to support the operations of the Marion Public Library.
